More Trailer News

Back in July (has it been that long since I last posted??) I wrote about a movie coming out early next year. I have since learned some more about it, and I have to say I'm as stoked as ever to see this movie. I was wrong about one thing though. I thought the movie was called "1.18.08", and I thought this was some sort of homage to "9/11". Turns out this is merely the release date.

The real title has been revealed to be "Cloverfield" which sounds more like a romantic comedy than a sci-fi suspense thriller... but who cares?? This movie looks so cool, I think this is going to be a big hit. Think Blair Witch meets Godzilla with some Independence Day thrown in for good measure. The new trailer is even better than the teaser.

I also saw another trailer that brought about a polar opposite reaction: Redacted. Here's the synopsis they provide:

A fictional story inspired by true events, REDACTED is a unique cinematic experience that will force viewers to radically reconsider the filters through which we see and accept events in our world, the power of the mediated image and how presentation and composition influence our ideas and beliefs. A profound meditation on the way information is packaged, distributed and received in an era with infinite channels of communication, REDACTED utilizes a variety of created source material-video diaries, produced documentary, surveillance footage, online testimonials, news pieces-to comment on the extreme disconnect between the surface of an image and the reality of ideas and the truth, especially in times of strife.
I am struck by the sheer irony of this project. The liberal media does everything in its power (and it is real power) to manipulate the thoughts and feelings of the masses through their deliberate obfuscation of real life, not only on the modern canvass of the cinema screen (as in Lions for Lambs) but also in the way they spin the news in all the major MSM outlets nearly all of which are extremely liberal in their worldview. In Redacted we're presented with a tidy combination of both: a fictionalized account of something terrible (presumably in Iraq) coupled with a presentation of the false media spin fallout. I only wish this movie was a mea culpa on their part, but we all know it isn't.

I have to laugh to think that any conglomeration of left-leaning, truth-bending producers/writers/directors/actors could dare propose that they "pull back the curtain" and reveal the truth that is being so willfully obscured. Instead it's just more of the same: "Bush lied and we just reported what he said to report only now we know what he said is not true even though we can't know it's not true because he's keeping the truth secret from us." ... erm, what?

So many in Hollywood support the liberal agenda which can at best be called "socialist" and at worst "communist", that I have to admit that the film is properly titled. Only the capitalization is wrong.

It should read: RedActed.
